Landfill Gas

Colonie Landfill collects the landfill gas for conversion to electricity. Aria Energy produces
electricity equivalent to the consumption of approximately 3,000 homes from the collected gas.

Current Postings

Beginning in late June 2022, Colonie Landfill began installing several additional landfill gas extraction wells in recently developed areas of the facility. This activity involves excavating/drilling into in-place wastes to install the wells.  We hope to have these new wells connected to the landfill gas to energy plant by the end of June or early July.
